MONDAY UPDATE ON COLOR OF PASSION EPISODE #30

Rebeca asks to be introduced to Amador’s little “friend”, but turns out no intros are needed. She knows very well that the name of Amador’s amadora is Ligia Cervantes. She wants to remember the name well for when she tells Amador’s wife. Even though she’s in a see-through negligee, Ligia makes the wise choice of disappearing behind the closed elevator doors and heading downstairs. Rebeca points out that she now has Amador by the neck (el cuello) and he has to do everything SHE says! Amador’s pained look shows that Rebeca has him by something other than his neck. He has no choice but to agree to her demand that he say NOTHING to Alonso about Nora’s pregnancy. Amador’s shocked that she’s actually going to force her own daughter to get an abortion. Rebe reminds him that not only will her info about his little friend ruin his marriage, it will ruin the virtuous family man reputation he’s built up.

Mario, meanwhile, can’t concentrate on his date with Magda, and the magnificent views of the city they are witnessing, because he's compromised his own principals and is feeling remorse (remordimientos de conciencia). He admits to Magda that let himself get caught up and revealed a secret he shouldn’t have. He doesn’t admit whose secret it was (Ligia and Amador) or whom he revealed it to (Rebeca), but assures her it wasn’t a client he betrayed. He pivots and asks Magda what she thinks of Amador. Magda admits she thinks he’s overly ambitious, that Al brought him onboard because they have been friends since they were kids, but she is sure that Al won’t let Amador make a fool out of him (quedar cara de tonto). Amador is not living up to his name, and is berating Ligia for Rebeca discovering them. He’s sure she must have spoken to someone about their relationship. She swears she never has, and has only seen Rebeca once before, a few weeks ago in Mario’s office. Ligia points out that Rebeca very well could have followed Amador to her place. Amador kicks a chair over in frustration. Nazario returns home to the silent treatment from Trini. He explains that he’s tired of being locked up in the house with nothing to do. She points out how scary it was to almost lose him, and that she wants him to follow the doctor’s orders so that he can heal and be healthy. She doesn’t want anything bad to happen to him. They make up and make a compromise. He’ll get checked out by Dr. Sara tomorrow. If she doesn’t clear him to go back to work, then he will stay home. They hug it out. Mama Viper assures Baby Viper that she got control of Amador and he won’t open his mouth about the baby to Alonso. “Don’t worry. Like always, your mother will get you out of this problem, and I won’t fail you, my love…Now, we just have to get Rodrigo off your back, once and for all...” Marcelo interrogates his Momster about why she went to his job when he told her to stay out of his life! She claims motherly interest in knowing where he works, just like she used to when he worked in those big companies in Mexico City. Unless, he’s ashamed for people here to know he has a mother? “What are you trying to hide, Marcelo?” Marcelo denies he’s hiding anything and heads to the living room, where Rafaela tells him his mother is right, because he’s hiding from everyone the relationship between his brother and that woman. It wouldn’t be unusual for his mother to bring up his brother in conversation with people, since his death is so recent. Marcelo is overwhelmed by the possibility and by the terrible day he's had after getting dumped by Lucia. He goes out for a walk since he feels he’s losing control. Alonso interrupts Lucia’s work on the catalogue to tell her he needs the final revisions tomorrow to send it to print and distribution. She promises to have it done. Then she mentions that Rebeca told her that he was considering firing Marcelo. Al confirms that he was, but then decided to keep the personal and the professional separate, since Marcelo is such a good worker. Lucia, thinking that Al is being rather cavalier about a guy who is trying to seduce his two daughters and his wife, is shocked, and starts to question him. But before she can clearly lay out the situation, Rebeca pops her head in and drags Al away. Lucia gives Rebeca a parting WTF look. Rebeca takes Al to their bedroom and spins a tale about Nora not completing her tests because she doesn’t feel comfortable (agusto) with Sara. But Rebeca has the perfect solution—she’ll take her to finish her medical tests in Mexico City! Al sees this as just another excuse for Rebe to go to her beloved D.F., but she guilts him by saying it’s about the health of their daughter. Al gives in, but demands to know the name of the doctors Nora sees, what tests she takes, and in what hospital. Lucia wraps up and sends off the last of the catalogue edits, and then spots Marcelo lurking outside of the gates looking up at her window. She goes outside, loaded for bear, demanding to know what the hell he wants. But her would-be Romeo is gone. Rebeca, lurking as always, rubs it in by wondering to Lucia which of the three Gaxiola women he was there to see. She smugly urges Lucia to forget about him. Amador is feeling sorry for himself and trying to drown his frustrations in booze. Rod is just grateful that his dad has decided not to tattle on him and make him marry Nora. Amador throws a tantrum about no one caring about HIS problems, and tosses and shatters a brandy glass (for the poor maid to clean up). The next morning, Sara and Magda exchange pleasantries in the hospital hallway. Magda gets an appointment for Nazario and Trini for the afternoon, and thanks Sara profusely. Sara then starts to dig again to find out if the baby bomb has exploded in Casa Gaxiola. She explains to Magda that she’s just worried about Nora because her parents arranged for her to have a series of tests, but Nora stopped after just a few and hasn’t finished. She assures Magda that nothing is wrong with Nora, but Magda is clearly left worried. Lucia brings the mock-up of the catalogue to the factory and waits in Alonso’s office to see him. Instead, Marcelo walks in, and it’s on. She demands to know that the hell he was doing in front of her house last night. He just gives one of his charming smiles and says he wanted to see her, and didn’t feel like sticking around to listen to her telling him off (reclamos). She asks if he was there to see her, Nora, or her aunt Rebeca? She finally tells him about Rebeca’s claims that he was trying to seduce them all, and Nora’s claim that he kissed her. Marcelo is completely taken aback, quickly makes it clear that he has NO interest in Nora and she’s the one who kissed him, and as for Rebeca—he LOATHES (aborrecer) her more than anyone else in the world, and generally can’t stand the beyotch! Lucia is like, WTH? Why in the world would he loathe someone he barely even knows? Marcelo struggles with an answer, doesn’t quite deliver the truth, but comes close. “I DETEST that woman because she’s a fake, a liar, and she makes sh*t up (aparentar cosas)!...It’s obvious that she wants to turn you against me!” Lucia doesn’t get why her aunt would go to all that trouble to separate them, when they barely know each other. Marcelo points out how absurd it would be for him to try to seduce all the women in the household of the man who’s given him a job and opened the doors of his home to him. He points out that Lucia knows Rebeca and knows perfectly well what she’s capable of. Alonso’s arrival cuts their conversation short. Despite the obvious tension in the air, Lucia assures Al that she didn’t have an issue with Marcelo. Mama Viper and Baby Viper celebrate their victory over Amador and Rod, and hoodwinking Al. Rebeca drops her baby girl’s hand, and her smile, when Nora announces that as soon as her baby problem is solved, she’s going to jump Marcelo’s bones. Rebeca covers her tracks, in case Lucia mentions it to her, by telling Nora she lied to Lucia about Marcelo trying to seduce all three of them. Nora brings up finding Rebeca in Marcelo’s apartment, but Rebeca assures her that just like that time, she will always have Nora’s back (so that she can stab a knife into it). Nora thanks her Mama Viper for everything. Ligia checks in with Amador to make sure Rebeca didn’t rat them out, then goes into Mario’s office to snoop for the documents Al brought Mario. She gets caught by Sergio, but easily covers, saying she’s straightening Mario’s desk. She causally asks him why Al came by the other day, then suggests perhaps he wanted Mario to fire Rod. Sergio is clueless. Once alone again, Ligia tries to open the locked drawer and appears to give up, for now. Al interrupts Amador’s call to Ligia, wanting to know what Amador wanted so badly yesterday. Oh, nothing important…Well, if it was nothing, why the hell was Amador yelling at and disrespecting Norma? Al reminds Amador that Normita has been with the company much longer than Amador has, and that he better show her respect! (Amador looks like he wants to shatter another glass.) Lucia has thought about Marcelo’s denials and brought her doubts to Rebeca. She points out the illogic of Marcelo trying to seduce his boss’s daughters and wife. It’s like digging (cavar) his own grave! Rebeca assures her that a woman knows when a man is trying to get into her pants. “You have THAT much experience in these things, Aunt?” Rebeca nervously says it’s age, not experience, that allows her to know when a man has ulterior intentions. Lucia counters that while Rebeca is sure he has the hots for her, Marcelo assures her that he detests Rebeca. Rebeca flippantly says of course he hates her, because she’s ripping off his mask. “I don’t know who’s taking off whom’s mask. But I get the impression that Marcelo knows something about you that’s pretty bad. What could it be, huh?” Rebeca throws Lucia out. She definitely hit a nerve. Later, Lucia takes a stroll around the grounds with Magda and tells her aunt her conundrum. Both Rebeca and Marcelo are so adamant; which one is lying? Magda doesn’t hesitate. “Your Aunt Rebeca, of course!” Lucia is shocked she would speak of her own sister that way. Magda assures her she isn’t badmouthing Rebe, she just knows her and knows what she’s capable of. Rebeca is really clever (hábil) and knows how to cover her tracks with her lies. Magda is sure she told Al a totally different story than she told Lucia. Lucia realizes this must be true, and now doesn’t want her father to get wind of any of the drama. In truth, she doesn’t want to get Marcelo in trouble or get him fired. Magda isn’t fooled. She knows Marcelo is important to Lucia. Lucia admits she wants to keep seeing him. She supposes that Rebeca started this whole lie to leave the way to Marcelo clear for Nora (if only she knew!). Speaking of Nora, Magda wonders if Lucia knew about the medical tests she was doing and abandoned. Lucia says she didn’t know, but then the wheels start turning in her head… Al checks in with Marcelo to talk about work, and then to pry about what he and Lucia discussed earlier. He points out that Lucia isn’t ready for a new relationship after her bad breakup. Marcelo makes it clear that, despite Al’s desire to keep work and personal life separate, he (Marcelo) is serious about Lucia and won’t give up. She’s the ONLY person he’s interested in, and he’s sorry his presence is causing drama in Al’s household. If Al doesn’t approve of his wooing Lucia, then Marcelo is happy to find work elsewhere. Lucia pays a surprise visit to Sara and asks her outright about Nora’s tests and if she’s pregnant. Sara throws her professional ethics right out the door, since she’s worried that Nora hasn’t told her parents and might do something rash, and confirms it. Lucia obviously doesn’t know her sister’s reputation as a skank, and is flummoxed as to how and when this could have happened. Who’s the daddy? Sergio, being the last known boyfriend, gets pinpointed. A very worried and distracted Lucia bumps into her godparents on the way out and rushes off. After Sara examines Naz and gives him the all clear, it’s Naz and Trini’s turn to be nosy about what’s going on. Is Lucia sick? Sara assures them that she’s fine. Lucia heads home to find Nora, but she and Rebeca are gone. Rod finally shows up to work, and gets warned by Sergio that he’s going to get fired if he doesn’t get his cute butt in gear (poner las pilas). Why’s he been so distracted lately? Rod says it’s problems at home, then leaves when he gets yet another mysterious call. He meets Nora in her car in the garage, who tells him the abortion is arranged in Mexico City. He’s grateful that he was able to convince his father to keep quiet, but Nora burst his bubble. It was her mother who kept him quiet, because she likely knows one of his dirty little secrets. “My father has nothing to hide, Nora!” Whatevs! Finally, this nightmare will be over and we’ll never have to see each other again. Rod asks her to call him when the abortion is done, and she kicks him out of the car. Until never! Lucia’s next stop on her quest is Sergio’s office. She tells him to stop feigning ignorance, because she’s sure that Nora has told him that she’s pregnant! Whether or not he knew, he WILL take responsibility! Poor Sergio is shell-shocked and can barely get a word in. Rod walks in, unseen by Lucia. Sergio wants to know why she thinks he’s the baby-daddy. L: Because you’re the ONLY boyfriend that Nora has had, and this baby is OBVIOUSLY yours! S: Well, you’re very mistaken. Because I’m not the only one. Sergio’s gaze shifts to Rodrigo and Lucia turns around and sees the guilty look on his face as Sergio demands that he tells the truth. “Tell her the reason why you left her at the altar! Tell her whose child Nora is expecting!” Lucia looks from Sergio to Rod in horror, as the ugly truth dawns on her. A tear rolls down her cheek and she pleads with Rod to tell her it’s not true. “Yes, Lucia. I didn’t marry you because of Nora. And, yes. She’s expecting my child.” -End of episode.
